Fiona Gillies and Christine Hartland are UK-based independent producers who understand first-hand how hard it is for financiers to commit to projects without having sales estimates or projections. Their films have been financed with a mix of private equity and funding from traditional sources such as BFI, Creative Scotland, Creative Europe etc.
We passionately believe in empowering producers to do what they do best - produce films. And we’re going to do it by shaking up the industry which is why we co-founded SMASH with Mahesh Ramachandra, our tech expert.
Fiona and Christine have teamed up with Hilary Davis who has over 35 years of experience in global film sales and is extremely well-respected in the industry. Hilary has been instrumental in the creation of the SMASH Pitch Builder tool.
They believe that by supplying reliable film sales estimates, producers can access funding more easily and build a stronger business plan for their film. We all know that having realistic sales figures can unlock funding - especially from private equity investors.
Up to now, this knowledge has been closely guarded and rarely shared. They want to challenge the status quo, and wrestle control from the sales companies and return it to the producers and their investors.
